The map above shows the spread of Buddhism and the years it was believed to spread to different countries.
Buddhism didn't remain the same as it spread to other countries. Other countries shaped Buddhism into a way that was compatible with theirs. Buddhist teachings in China were translated to Chinese. As Buddhism spread in China, converts started to drink tea from the ideas of Buddhists and eventually made it their national drink. They also started wearing cotton thanks to Buddhists. Many Buddhists started a long journey to obtain texts from India that teach Buddhism and translate them to other languages where Buddhism has spread to. Tibet encouraged both Indian and Chinese forms of Buddhism. Every country that has Buddhism influence has its own monasteries, universities, and temples that represent their style. When Buddhism declined in India, Chinese Buddhism was the one to be transported into Korea, Japan, Tibet, and Vietnam.
